Sammi the Snowman

Hey everybody!
I finished another pattern to sell on etsy :) Say hi to Sammi the Snowman :)
Isn't he cute? It's too late to give him to anybody this Christmas since I have all the presents already, but I might give him to some people next year.
He is 13.5 inches tall. Sammi's arms are made out of brown pipe cleaners.
Let me know what you think of him. I have also uploaded some more pictures to my facebook page for fletcher's crochet lab. Please like it if you like my work.
I don't know what I will do next, but it'll have to wait until after Christmas. Do you have any ideas for me? If so please let me know!

Have a very Merry Christmas everybody and enjoy the time you get to spend with your families this year!

facebook!

I know I just moved the blog here earlier today (well technically yesterday :P) but I already have an exciting update for you all: I created a Facebook page for my little business! You can find it at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fletchers-Crochet-Lab/173034159403019?v=wall
Go check it out and tell me what you think!
Time to go to bed now, I'll see you all soon, good night and sweet dreams! ;)

grandma

Hello everybody!

I finally finished the grandma to go with my grandpa. Took me a lot longer than I thought because I had so many other things to do and of course there were the holidays.
This one is another instruction from Delicious Crochet. As I already mentioned in previous posts, I really like her instructions, they make for very beautiful dolls.
The set of the both will be this year's Christmas present for my parents. We'll see how they'll like it.
My next project will be a snowman. I hope that this one will be done faster since it should be easier. And it will be my own design.
Are you making anything for your family members for Christmas? Please share, I'd be happy to know all about your Christmas creativity. :)
Have a great rest of the week!

grandpa

Hey you all,

I finally finished the grandpa, YAY! I always get so excited when I finish a project, it just feels so good!
It took me a little longer than I had planned but I finally made it. This is another pattern from Delicious Crochet, just like the Santa Clause I made last year. You can find the instructions here: http://www.deliciouscrochet.com/products/amigurumi/grandpa/

I know my plan was to work on several projects at one time but I just had to finish the grandpa first. I'm gonna start something new tomorrow, don't know what I'm gonna do but it's either gonna be the grandma to the grandpa or the cute little pig. We'll see...I'll let you guys know once I decided what to do first.
Have a great rest of the week!

new design

Hey everybody!
I thought it was time for a change, so I changed the design of the blog a little. I wanted it to have to do more with crochet and be less abstract. How do you like it? Everytime I finish a project I will add it to the background so that you can always have an overview on what I have done so far. How do  you like this idea? Please share your thoughts on this.
Here is some exciting news: I sold my first custom made item today! :) Somebody saw the instructions for the school bus on my etsy and asked me whether I could make it for them, so I did! Yay, I'm so excited. The first doll I ever sold; I hope they are gonna like it! I'm about to go to the post office to send it to them as soon as I finish this post.

Also, I'm in the middle of working on a project of my own. I'm finally making the grandpa I've been wanting to make for about a year now. I'll tell you more about it and where I got the pattern once it's done (which I hope will be in a couple of days).

Enjoy your weekend everybody and I hope to see you back soon!

update

Alright...we were at Walmart yesterday and I looked at the sewing machines. Well to cut a long story short, my husband bought me one :) So the result of that is, that I now already have all the doggie bandannas done, yay! So on the left you can see a picture of the other ones I made so far. Being that easy now I'm almost thinking of buying more fabric so I can make him more.

Also on an unrelated note as far as crocheting goes, I bought something really awesome the other day and tried it out today and I love it! It's a cookie stamp, but not any stamp, it say's "home made" on them, so that everybody eating your cookies will now know that you made them yourself! The cookies look really great now and it's not hard to do. If you're into making cookies, you should try it some day. Just beware, it requires some big big cookies to fit the stamp on there ;)

Now back to crocheting: After finishing my school bus, I now will work on several projects at once. Christmas is getting a little closer, so I'm gonna start making the presents and of course I also am working on a new project of my own :) So here is what I'm gonna attempt to do at once: a grandma, grandpa, 3 Santa Clauses and a pig. I'll keep you updated on how I've gotten soon. Alright, off to crocheting, I'm starting right now and I'll begin with the grandpa. So you ever work on several projects at once? What are you gonna give your friends and family for Christmas, any ideas yet? Let me know, maybe I can steal some of your ideas ;)
See you soon!

Murphy's halloween bandanna

This post is not crochet-related, but I did make it myself and thought I'd share this great idea.
As Halloween is approaching I thought I should also get my puppy in the spirit, so I decided to make him a Halloween themed bandanna. I bought some fabric, put it in a triangle, sew around the edges and put some Velcro on: nice and easy way to make your dog look special. Not having a sewing machine it did take me forever and now I am seriously considering buying one. What do you think, is it worth buying a sewing machine?
Ever since I put it on him earlier today he's been wearing it with pride :) Below you can find some pictures of it. I also bought more fabric to make him some for every day life and of course Christmas! I will post some pictures when they are done. Please let me know what you think about the bandanna and share if you have ever made anything for your dog. I'm interested so see all your great ideas!

 Have a great week everybody!

school bus

Hey guys,
I know it's been a long time again, but I finally finished another pattern: this time it's a yellow school bus! The pattern is up on sale at http://www.etsy.com/listing/58493177/school-bus-crochet-pattern for $4.00! It's somewhat easier than the Jack Skellington and can be finished pretty quickly. I used a Nr 9 hook for everything but the red lights which were done with a Nr 2.5 hook. Let me know how you like it!

Have a great weekend everybody!

jack skellington

Hello out there!
I finally made it, after almost one year of working (or not working) on it, I finally finished my Jack Skellington! Standing, he is about 21 inches tall! But he can also sit down if you don't want him standing. To the right and left are some pictures of the finished Jack.
If you are interested you can find the pattern at my etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/listing/54348005/jack-skellington-crochet-pattern Please come and check it out! This is also the first thing I've ever sold on etsy, so I need your support!
I am really proud of this because it's my first pattern ever. I'd be happy to hear what you think about it, so please comment away :) I hope to be doing some more patterns soon. Have a great weekend!

sleeping baby sheep

Hey out there!

I finally made it, I finished another project, and I did it in just 1.5 days :) (Kinda had to because the baby came sonner than she was supposed to ;) )  This is a sleeping baby sheep for my new niece.
I got the instructions from Harugurumi, she is awesome! You can find her instructions here:
http://harugurumi.blogspot.com/2008/02/baby-sheep-free-pattern.html

Have fun creating your own baby sheep and let me know how you like it!
I'm on to making quite some more of them because a bunch of my friends are expecting babies, too!
Oh and of course, since it's for a baby I used soft, baby-friendly wool that can be washed in the washer.

crochet hook holder

Here is a crochet hook holder I made:

Pattern:

Start with pink color
Row 1: 90 chain stitches, 1 chain stitch to turn around
Row 2-18: 90 single crochet stitches, 1 chain stitch to turn around
Change color to purple
Row 19-22: 90 single crochet stitches, 1 chain stitch to turn around
Change color to pink
Row 23-58: 90 single crochet stitches, 1 chain stitch to turn around
Row 59: single crochet stitches in the front loop, 1 chain to turn around
Row 60-71: 90 single crochet stitches, 1 chain stitch to turn around
Row 72: 90 single crochet stitches, make a knot and end the piece

To finish the hook holder off, fold Rows 59-72 over and sew both sides together. Then to make little pockets, sew them according to your hook sizes. Over the purple stripe, sew an elastic band and also sow it on according to your hook sizes. Fold it, so that you have thirds and sew on a button, then on the part opposite to the button crochet on some chain stitches (depends on the size of the button), so close you hook holder with. Now you're done!
In mine, I left the middle part undefined so I can customize it later when I buy either more hooks or maybe I'll put in scissors, or whatever else I find I need.
Let me know how this works for you and what you think about it!

Aikido Keychain

Today I made this little keychain, which as you probably guessed already, is gonna be another gift for Christmas. I got the pattern for the little man from http://www.creadoo.com/Content7244 and made the clothes myself.
Enjoy and feel free to leave comments!

my grandma's dog, Moorchen

This cute little guy is gonna be my grandma's Christmas present this year (yes as you can tell I give a lot of handmade gifts). I made this dog to look like hers. I got the basic pattern for the dog from http://www.onnys-handarbeiten.md-power.net/thread.php?threadid=333&sid=9a0bb01b39a7c2f1408a289b90b7e992 a while back, so I can't guarantee the page is still available. I followed the pattern, but I made some changes to make the original pattern look more like my grandma's dog:

Ears:

Row 1: 8 chain stitches (ch), 1 ch to turn
Row 2: 8 single chrochet stitches (sc), 1 ch to turn
Row 3: 6 sc, 2 together, 1 ch to turn
Row 4: 5 sc, 2 together, 1 ch to turn
Row 5: 6 sc, 1 ch to turn
Row 6: 6 sc, 1 ch to turn
Row 7: 4 sc, 2 together, 1 ch to turn
Row 8: 3 sc, 2 together, 1 ch to turn
Row 9: 2 sc, 2 together, 1 ch to turn
Row 10: 1 sc, 2 together, 1 ch to turn
Row 11: 2 together

Tail:
I followed the basic instruction but made it a lot longer.

White spot:
Row 1: 40 ch, 1 ch to turn
Row 2: 40 sc
Rnd 3: 40 sc, 1 ch to turn
Row 4: 40 sc
In the middle of that spot I added 10 sc on either side to give it more body there.

Paws:I just took some of that white yarn and embroidered white spots on the paws.
Hope you enjoy!

Santa

I just finished this little guy yesterday and it's gonna be my mom's Christmas present. I hope she'll like it. I bought the pattern from http://www.deliciouscrochet.com/products/amigurumi/santa-claus/, it cost $6,20 and was totally worth it. The instructions are great, even though I almost lost my mind over putting on all the hair I was so proud to finish it! Looks nice, doesn't it?

Mikey the monkey

I made this cute little monkey baby for my aunt for her birthday this year. She absolutely loved it! I got the pattern from AMIGURUMI ARTIST (see her blog: http://amigurumiartist.blogspot.com/) at http://amigurumiartist.blogspot.com/search/label/Mikey. To get the pattern just send her an e-mail and she'll send it to you.
With this one I made some alterations: I changed the colors of the bottle didn't add any toe or finger nails, left out the hair on the head and I made some small changes to the belly.

cute cat

This is a cat I made for my aunt's birthday last year. I got the pattern from http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mite/diagram/crochetedCat.html and followed it exactly. Enjoy and let me know how yours turn out if you decide to make that cat too!

new blog!

Hello and welcome everybody to fletcher's crochet lab! I decided to move my blog to a different website so I can keep track of all my things more easily. I see this as a new start, also for me to finally put more time and effort into this project. I will repost all the entries from my previous blog so that none of it gets lost.

Let me know what you think of the (new) blog. I'm always happy to hear your comments and suggestions!
