christmas tree ornament - gingerbread man

Hello out there,
I finally got back around to crocheting a little bit. Here is what I came up with:
Isn't he cute? And he fits perfect on our tree. He's about 5 inches tall and in 3D. I am selling them, too. So let me know if you should be interested.
Also: any other ideas for cute Christmas tree ornaments?
I love how fast you can make these. It's so nice to start a project and be able to finish it the same day :) Really gets me motivated to do more. So hopefully you will hear from me more often in the future! :)

Another snowman and my first try at baby boots

Hello everyone out there!
Well I did work a little more since my last post.
I finished another snowman so he can be given away as a Christmas present. I'm not sure how many more I need to make for this year, but I do know that I need a little break from making them.

Also, since our baby girl is due in about two and a half weeks I thought it would be nice to make her a cute pair of boots. (I stumbled upon a pattern while researching something else).
Either way, the pattern called for smaller yarn than what I have handy here, so I found some leftovers I had that were a little smaller than what was called for. Well...I finished one boot and it is only about 2.5 inches long! It looks tiny, so I looked up average baby's feet length and it turns out that they are about 3.5 to 4 inches long. So I abandoned this try and I will go for another one with my larger yarn. Wish me luck that this time it won't be way too large, lol. At least she can always grow into them if they end up being to big. :)
Also, now I get to choose any color I like pretty much because I have so many different ones. I think for now I will go with white soles and ... well I guess the color of the rest will be a surprise. So we'll see what happens this time!
I'll keep you updated.

And once again a: What I've been up to

Also once again I know it's been a while...again.
Since I last posted some updates, I've been really busy. We finally moved into our new home and that really was a lot of work. I've also been extremely busy at work and not to forget, our little baby is due in about 4 weeks. In between all of this I did not have as much time for crocheting as I would like to have had. But I truly am trying to devote some more time to it again now that we're at least moved in.
In the meantime, here are some pictures on what I've done since my last post:
As you can see I finished the first Snowman and I finished the body of the butterfly. I am working on the second Snowman right now. So far I've got the hat finished and I'm about to start working on the body as soon as I get off here.
In the meantime I promise I'll try to update more frequently and use more time crocheting. As part of my trying to update more promise, I am gonna try to post more progress pictures here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/lakfletcher So feel free to check that out if you like.

Until next time and enjoy your weekend!

What I've been up to

Hey guys, I just wanted to give  you a quick update on what I've been up to.
I've been working on my first Christmas present for this year: A snowman. The three white balls are for the body. Still gotta make the hat and the scarf and the rest of the face.
The other thing you see there is gonna be the body for a butterfly. I started painting my daughter's room yesterday and it's lavender and the theme of the nursery is gonna be butterflies. So I figured I would make her a lavender/purple butterfly.
Right now I don't have as much time for crocheting as I would like, but I'm still trying to work on my projects a little every day.
Also, I've been wanting to crochet something for Halloween, but I can't think of anything. I don't want it to be the typical ghost or pumpkin. So if you have any ideas for me, please let me know!
I'll keep you updated and post some more pictures of my progress.

Little Piggy + Ravelry

Happy Monday everyone!
Yesterday I finished my next project: a little piggy. It's about 9.5 inches tall. Here are some first pictures. I still need to take some more pictures and write up the pattern before I can put it up on Etsy and Ravelry. I hope to accomplish that sometime this week. So keep looking out for that.
I just recently signed up for Ravelry (two days ago). Here is my page: http://www.ravelry.com/people/lakfletcher And as I am exploring Ravelry more I have to say that I start liking it more and more. It really gives you a lot of different things to do and helps you wonderfully to keep track of all your projects and supplies. I still like Etsy very much, but I like how Ravelry is specifically made for knitting and crocheting which really makes the content more interesting to me. I will let you know how it keeps working out for me.
Also, somebody else listed my Santa Jack Skellington pattern in their Treasury on Etsy. You can find their Treasury here: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/OTQxMDQwM3w1NDY4NzYzNzc/the-pumpkin-king?index=0

I'm not quite sure what my next project will be, I am in the process of figuring that out. I'm liking the idea of making a butterfly. But we will see. In any way I know that I need to start making the Christmas presents, so if anything else fails, I will always have that to work on. ;)

Have a great week everybody!

Featured on Etsy! and other updates

Hey everybody!
How is your summer going? It's really hot here so I'm pretty much chained to the inside :( But I am trying to use that time to work on my crochet dolls.
Today I got featured in an Etsy Treasury with my Santa Jack Pattern that I finished recently :) You can check that out here: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTU5MzI1ODB8NTQzMzE3NDky/jack-skellington

Also, here is an update what I have been working on. My newest project is a cute little piggy and I am almost done. I just need to figure out how to do the face. Haven't quite decided yet. So if you have any good ideas, let me know! For now I have just marked where the eyes need to go.

I also need ideas on what to work on after I'm done with the pig, so bring on the ideas!

I know it is still the middle of summer, but I am already gonna start working on the Christmas presents for this year (a bunch of people are gonna get handmade things). When do you guys start worrying about Christmas presents? Are you making some or buying all? Share your thoughts!

Santa Jack Skellington

Hey everybody.
He's finally here; meet Santa Jack! After working on him for a long time, he's finally done. Over the next day or two I will be working on putting the pattern together in a pdf and hopefully having it on Etsy by the end of the week. I also need to take more pictures, but in the meantime, here are the first couple ones I took. Please feel free to leave comments and tell me what you think!

Have a great night everybody!

I know it's been a while / give away

I know it's been a while once again since I posted last. But between being pregnant, working and remodeling a home I really was quite busy and exhausted.
But here is some good news: Santa Jack is almost done!!!! The only thing left for me to do is to finish his beard and do the belt buckle. So I will have pictures up later this week. And I hope that I can put the pattern on Etsy sometime this weekend.

With this project coming to a close, this is your last chance to enter my contest: Guess how tall Santa Jack got. The person whose guess is closest to the actual height will win one free Santa Jack pattern!

While you're here, please take some time to visit my Etsy store and my Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by,
I'll see you in a few days with pictures!

Wow

Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since my last post. I want to sincerely apologize for that and promise to try and do better in the future. Since my last post a lot of things have happened that got me sidetracked for a while.
Next to other things, we bought a house that needs to be completely renovated an we found out that I am pregnant. So tons of things happening.
But I do miss crocheting and I plan on returning to work after I get home today. You have not missed any progress. I am still working on the Santa Jack Skellington, and believe me I can't wait to finish it!

With this post I also want to thank all the people who have bought my patterns on Etsy. Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me.

Also, if you browse around this blog and like it, please subscribe or follow me on Facebook. I appreciate all of your support and I will get back to work and try to finish the Santa Jack as fast as I can.

Midweek Update Week 1 and give-away

Hey guys,
I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve and celebrated safely. With this post I'm going to put one of my New Year's resolutions into action. I realized that sometimes I crochet non-stop for several days or weeks and then I tend to enter into a period of doing nothing for a long time. To prevent this in the future, I am going to make myself accountable to you guys. From now on out, I will post an update every Wednesday and include pictures of what I'm working on and how far I've gotten. I believe that this way I will be more productive.
If you like my page on Facebook, or follow me on Twitter, you will know that I am currently working on a Santa Jack Skellington. I can already tell you this much: it will be huge! The last Jack I made was done with a C/2 hook. This one I'm doing with a I/9 hook. And already the first one was 21 inches tall! I'm only done with part of the leg so far, but can you see the difference in the two feet? Isn't that crazy? How tall do you think the Santa Jack will be? Let me know what you think. The person whose guess is closest by the time I'm done will win a FREE SANTA JACK SKELLINGTON PATTERN! To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment with your guess and I will contact you once Jack is finished and measured. Here is a picture of both feet, so you can compare and make a guess:
left is the Santa Jack and right the normal Jack
Good luck and I'll see you soon :)
